Building Homes, Community, and Progress
When we began the Heartprint story back in 2016, we couldn’t have imagined just how far it would unfold - or how many powerful moments would be added along the way. The story isn’t finished - far from it. We’re still learning, still adapting, still adding new chapters every day.
However, with the one-year anniversary of our new Community Centre's opening, it felt like the right moment to pause and reflect, to gather all the parts of this story so far and share them with you in one place.
What began with a commitment to build safe and sustainable homes has evolved into a vibrant Heartprint Community Centre where learning happens, friendships form, and futures are mapped out. We've learned along the way that true well-being isn’t just about housing or health—it’s about dignity, opportunity, and belonging. With your support, we now run 18 different programs under one roof, serving 89 children and 13 adults every week.
The centre is open six days a week, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. It's not just a schedule—it’s a promise. A promise that there will always be someone here, ready to help, teach, listen, and care.
Here’s a brief overview of our current programs.
Tiny Tots – A gentle, joyful first step into learning, designed especially for children whose families have long been hesitant about formal education.
English Classes – A practical path to opportunity. Held three times daily for both children and adults, including online evening sessions to keep older learners connected.
Khmer Catch-Up – Academic support to help students keep pace in school, and to believe in their own potential.
Discovery Learning – For children who think differently or learn best through doing. We meet them where they are and help them discover what they’re capable of.
STEM (Science, Technology, Emotions, Mindfulness) – Yes, we love robots and reactions but we also help kids explore their emotions. This program builds bright minds and strong hearts.
Creative Arts & Music – Through painting, dance, instruments, and performance, our young people express themselves, build confidence, and learn to see the world, and themselves, in new ways.
Read Out Loud – One-on-one support for growing readers. It’s not just about phonics; it’s about opening up new worlds through books.
Get Active & Healthy Fridays – We play, we stretch, we learn about hygiene and nutrition, and we laugh a lot. Wellness should be joyful.
Nutrition Program – A warm, nourishing meal served six days a week, because no child should try to learn (and live) on an empty stomach.
Medical & Dental Support – Regular checkups, dental care, and access to necessary medication. Health is the foundation for everything else.
Build a Future – Weekly hands-on workshops in sewing, crafting, and creativity. These sessions bring adults - especially women - together to learn new skills and find new strength in themselves and each other.
AIS (Adult Interpersonal Skills) – A three-month course in life skills, financial literacy, and communication. It’s not just education, it’s transformation.
Childcare – Our littlest ones are well cared for so their parents can focus on learning, healing, and growing.
Circle of Strength – A safe space for girls navigating the challenges of adolescence in poverty. Together, they learn, share, and build resilience.
All Minds Matter – Private, compassionate counseling sessions to support mental health and emotional healing. Everyone deserves to be heard.
Fighting the Monster – When children live in homes affected by addiction, domestic violence, or other challenges, escaping those situations isn’t always possible. Our program helps children navigate their realities, build resilience, and shore up their own emotional well-being.
Disability Support – Inclusive services for individuals with physical or intellectual disabilities. We focus on ability, independence, and dignity.
Clean Water Program – Free, safe drinking water available six days a week. A simple service that makes a big difference.
Every program is rooted in the same belief: that people thrive when they are seen, heard, and supported. We don’t do everything, but we do a lot, and we do it with heart. From early education to emotional resilience, from nutrition to job skills, we’re walking with our community at every stage of life.
Our Centre is more than bricks and walls - it’s a beating heart, kept alive by your generosity our Heartprint team, and all of the members of our community, and our shared belief in what’s possible.
Thank you for being part of our story. We can’t wait to write the next chapter together.
One more note: Australian EOFY Tax receipts are coming your way soon, so be sure to keep an eye on your inbox! Thank you again for all your support. We can do what we do because of your help.
With deepest gratitude,
Your Heartprint team
