Rockstars
Wow! You are rock stars to all of us here at Heartprint Central. Your Match it May donations have (quite literally) “made” our Year. Together, we raised AU$ 22,598! This will keep our office and the entire operating infrastructure running for another year! THANK YOU.
As long as we speak of rock stars, let us tell you about the recent Vapiano Charity Lunch, an Italian Feast! So many wonderful friends worked incredibly hard to make this an incredible success—raising a staggering AU$10,000!
Part of the funds will go to build a home for a family. The remainder will be used to pay for five children to participate in a year of our Community Centre programs through Fund a Future. Any leftovers will be used for the renovations of our new Centre.
Rolling along…eleven bikes have been donated, thanks to good friends in Germany who organized the 11km Wiesenttal Zeitfahren bicycle event. Eleven kids were made beyond happy with a new bike they can now ride to school, so they never have to miss a day!
Maybe this is the place to remind you that if you are interested, you too can help us from afar. Whatever you are comfortable undertaking. We can walk you through the steps if you visit us here:
It’s not just kids who get excited about two-wheeled transport! Older folks need to get around, too. We recently made a very nimble grandma happy with a new bike - and hers was the FOUR HUNDREDTH bike given out in our community - thanks to so many kind and generous people. This is a real milestone.
And PS on bikes: A while back, we told you about some twins who outgrew their bikes and could “trade” them in with us. Those very bikes went to a couple of our Tiny Tots this month. And so the cycle (pun intended) continues.
Now, here is an update on the Big Move.
We've had slow but steady progress renovating the new Heartprint Community Centre.
Today, we brought in the big guns!!
The Youth Group have taken on the massive job of managing various aspects of the renovation. They divvied up the projects: library, music room, signage, and, of course, the playground.
Each group is planning, designing, and creating its space. Working with a budget and a brief, they are excited to show us what they can do. For them, it's as simple as designing and creating our new space, but they are learning so many more skills than that. Preparing our children to be career-ready is always our aim and their advantage.
Finally, let’s talk about home.
It's hard to describe the emotions of handing over a new home to a deserving family.
House 107, sponsored by Floreancig Smith Building Surveyors, was a particularly meaningful project for all of us. A while back, a father of two contacted us to ask for help with a home for his family. Before we were able to meet with them to profile their needs, the father had passed away. While we cannot know, we believe he reached out to us because he knew he did not have much longer to care for his young family. So, his widow and two young children needed a home.
In May, we could hand them the keys to the home their dearly loved and missed husband and father wanted so badly for them. Yes, we cried.
You make these things happen. Our hands build the walls, but without your constant generosity, they would not build nearly as many.
Rock on, Stars.
