Are you an enthusiastic school leaver, University or College student or just someone looking to broaden your skills and change your life by making a difference in the world? You will get a real insight into what happens behind the scenes of a hands-on charity working in a third world country. Candidates must have a positive attitude and excellent writing, typing and verbal communication skills.

This internship is based at the Heartprint Community Centre in Siem Reap, Cambodia. If you have a passion for travel, helping others and working in the volunteer sector; are a self-starter, with good communication skills and an ability to work with others, this is the internship for you!

Applicants must be willing to intern for a minimum of 4 weeks. During this period, you will work 5 days a week, 8 hours a day allowing you time to sightsee throughout Siem Reap or other parts of Cambodia in your spare time. Sightseeing is at your own cost however we can provide assistance with different sightseeing options and packages.

Although you can intern for four weeks we recommend 12 weeks as a good amount of time to spend interning with us, this allows you to fully absorb yourself in local life as well as our charitable organisation. You may choose to extend your internship in weekly blocks up to a total of 52 weeks.

 The internship is a voluntary position and you will be asked to provide a donation of US$200 per week to cover your costs.

Frequently Asked Questions

When can I intern?

  • Year round. You must book in a block of four consecutive weeks to start your internship. Any additional weeks can be included thereon.

Is there an age limit?

  • Applicant must be at least of high school leaver age.

  • Preferably over 18 however younger applicants may be considered.

What times will I be working?

  • Your times will vary depending on our schedule and the programs you are working on. You will never be expected to work more than eight hours in a day. You will be expected to work five days out of seven.

Why do I need to pay to intern?

  • We are a small organisation that run solely on sponsors and donations. Your internship fee also covers your accommodation and so much more.

What is the advantage of staying at Heartprint’s accommodation?

  • You are here for the full experience, this includes living amongst the people you are supporting. You will gain so much more from your internship by immersing yourself in the local culture.

How should I dress?

  • Cambodia is predominately Buddhist, please dress appropriately.
